Autism Symptoms

      Checklist
          Are you concerned your child may have autism?

                Here are some signs you can look for:

 

- Not responsive to verbal cues; acts as deaf

- Little or no eye contact

- Prefers to be alone; aloof manner

- Difficulty in expressing needs; uses gestures or  pointing instead of words

- Tantrums; displays extreme distress for no apparent reason

- Uneven gross / fine motor skills

- Speech absence or delays

- Noticeable physical over activity or extreme under activity

- Insistence on sameness; resists changes in routine

- Abnormal responses to one or a combination of senses such as sight, hearing, touch, smell, balance, reaction to pain

- Laughing or giggling for no apparent reason

- Spins objects or lines up objects often checking to be sure all are straight
